Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Have they not seen the birds above them spreading out their wings and closing them? Naught upholdeth them save the Beneficent. Lo! He is Seer of all things.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Do they not observe the birds above them, spreading their wings and folding them in? None can uphold them except (Allah) Most Gracious: truly it is He that watches over all things.

Context · verses 19–22

Birds in the sky, and two ways of walking. Only the Most Merciful holds the birds aloft; no army or provider exists besides Him; and the one who walks fallen on his face is contrasted with the one who walks upright on a straight path. Read the explanation.

Tafsīr Ibn Kathīr (Arabic)
